Warning: I played a 1987 cassette of my uncle's band on a road trip and now it won't leave my head
Found a dusty cassette at my mom's place in Akron labeled "Randy and the Night Owls, demo 1987" and popped it in during a 4 hour drive to Columbus last week. The drum machine sounds like a stapler and the singer keeps saying "midnight microwave" over and over, but by track 3 I was singing along in my head. My wife asked me to turn it off twice and I pretended the deck was broken. Now I need more stuff like this, what are your go-to so-bad-it's-gold tapes or albums?
Ha, that stapler drum machine bit got me. In my experience thrift store cassettes are gold for this, so hit the Goodwill bins and grab anything with a hand-drawn cover or a band name with a misspelling. Your mileage may vary on the wife's patience, but a pair of headphones on the next drive will save you.
