Why does nobody talk about the 808s on this 1997 workout tape I found?

I dug a random 'Aerobic Burn' VHS out of a charity shop bin in Portland for 2 bucks and the backing track has this insanely distorted kick drum that hits harder than half the modern trap I hear. The instructor is counting reps over it but the beat keeps glitching into this weird half-time skip mid-sentence, it's pure chaos. Has anyone else stumbled onto a fitness tape with secretly fire production, or am I just lucky?

Found a Richard Simmons-esque tape at a flea market once. The soundtrack was all these cheap MIDI horns and then out of nowhere a bassline that sounds like early Daft Punk. The warm-up section was just this looped four-bar groove that had no business being that smooth. I ripped the audio off the VHS and used it as a backing track for a run for like a month. The whole thing falls apart into a key change at the end that barely works, but that doesn't matter. Some producer in 1989 just locked in and made a banger for people doing lunges in a church basement.
