Appreciation post: the old timer who told me to stop greasing disc brake threads

Some guy at the co-op in Portland told me last month to use grease on caliper bolts and it would ruin the pads, but I ignored him. Fluid leaked down my brake lines during a test ride and I had to sand both rotors, he was completely right and I owe him a beer. Anyone else learn a braking setup lesson the hard way?

Fluid leaked down my brake lines" is not the sentence I expected to read today, but here we are. That's a brutal way to learn why grease and caliper threads don't mix, especially when you're stuck sanding rotors on a nice ride. Glad you got it sorted, but I'd still buy that old timer a six pack, not just a beer.
