I finally had a customer's carbon seatpost fuse inside the frame
It was a 2018 Trek Domane that came in for a routine service. I used a standard internal expanding wedge tool, but the post just wouldn't budge after years of corrosion. Ended up having to carefully cut a slot in the post with a Dremel and a metal cutting wheel to relieve the pressure, which took about 45 minutes. What's your go-to method for a truly seized carbon-on-carbon situation like this?

Honestly, you cut into it with a metal wheel? That's wild.

People will use anything but the right tool.

Yeah fionak63, sometimes you just use what's in your hands. Not everyone has a full workshop at home. If a metal wheel gets the job done and you're being safe, why not? I've seen way worse fixes that actually caused problems. This just sounds like making do. What's the big deal?
