Just switched from Park Tool grease to marine grease on my bottom brackets

I was skeptical for years because everyone says use bike-specific stuff, but after a wet ride last month in Seattle I tore it down and the marine grease held up way better with zero water intrusion. Has anyone else made the swap and noticed a difference long term?

Have you actually measured any real-world drag from marine grease in a bottom bracket? I ran it for 18 months on my commuter through Portland winters and never noticed any extra effort pedaling compared to the bike stuff. The real difference I saw was that marine grease stayed put while the Park Tool stuff would wash out after two or three wet rides, leaving me with a gritty mess. If you're not racing and you deal with rain, the extra protection seems worth it over a tiny theoretical loss in efficiency.

Marine grease is thicker and can actually cause more drag than bike grease.
