My torque wrench habit came from a ruined seatpost clamp
I used to just snug bolts by feel until I cracked a carbon seatpost clamp on my commuter bike about two years ago. That repair cost me $45 and a whole Saturday afternoon waiting for the part to arrive at the shop. Now I use a simple beam torque wrench on every carbon part, and I check it every time I adjust the saddle. The difference in how secure the clamp feels is clear, but what really changed is my confidence on long rides. Has anyone else switched to torque wrenches after a similar mishap, or do you trust your hands on metal parts only?

Always figured hand-tight was fine, but one creaky carbon post later and I get it now. Torque wrench on anything fragile just makes the ride quieter in my head, even if the feel is subtle.
