Showerthought: A customer told me my torque wrench clicks were too fast to be accurate, so I started counting 'one Mississippi' between clicks.
Now I'm wondering if a slower, more deliberate click is actually better for precision, or if I'm just overthinking a tool that's designed to be consistent on its own?

My uncle used to rebuild classic car engines and swore by the two click method. He'd set the wrench, hear the first click, then back off and tighten again to confirm the second matched. Maybe the customer was onto something with wanting a slower pace to feel that solid engagement. Do you think the speed could affect how the internal mechanism settles before releasing?

That "two click method" sounds like overkill for most jobs lol. Torque wrenches are calibrated to click at a set force, period. If you're rebuilding a spaceship maybe worry about it, but for lug nuts or a valve cover? You're just adding extra wear on the tool for no real gain. The customer probably just liked the drama of a slow click.
