Spent 3 hours trying to find a creak on a customer's bike, only to realize it was the $5 bell on the handlebar.

Ugh, that's the worst. Did you feel like throwing the bell across the shop?

Read a blog post once where a mechanic said cheap accessories cause more phantom noises than actual components. Makes sense now.
