Swapped to a torque wrench with a click indicator after snapping a stem bolt on a 2015 Trek Emonda
I always used a beam-style torque wrench for years until that bolt gave at 6 Nm and cost me a $90 carbon repair, and now the click type is way more consistent for blind tightening under the bars.

Oh man, I used to be a beam-style guy all the way. Thought the click type was just a gimmick or something you didn't really need. Then I overtightened a stem bolt on my own bike and cracked the steerer tube. That whole repair cost me way more than just a torque wrench. Now I won't touch a beam style for anything critical like stems or seatpost clamps. The click type just gives you that clear feedback when you hit the number, especially in tight spots where you can't really see the gauge. It's one of those things you have to mess up to really appreciate.

Haha, I had a buddy who swore by beam-style until he did the exact same thing on his fork, stripped the top cap threads clean off. He tried to fix it with helicoils and everything but ended up just buying a whole new fork anyway. He literally handed me his beam wrench at the group ride and said "here, you need this more than I do now.
