Guy in line at the pharmacy told me he quit Ozark after 3 episodes and I think he was onto something
So I am standing there waiting for a script last Tuesday and this older guy next to me sees my phone lock screen, which is a pic of the Byrde family house, and he goes "you one of those people who powered through that whole show?" I said yeah, all 44 episodes, took me about 6 weeks. He shook his head and told me he bailed after 3 episodes because it felt like a job, not fun. That stuck with me because I realized I had been hate watching for like 20 hours and never admitted it to myself. I went home and looked at my list and there were 4 other shows I finished purely out of guilt or because someone at work kept asking me about them. So now I have this rule where if a show has not grabbed me by episode 4, I am out, no matter how many people swear the back half gets amazing. I am curious though, has anyone else ditched something halfway and felt weirdly free afterward, or do you push through because the payoff might be worth it?
