Hot take: binging The Wire is way better than watching it weekly like I did in 2002
I tried watching The Wire when it first aired and gave up after 4 episodes. Too many characters, too slow. Last month I binged the whole series in 2 weeks on HBO Max and it was a completely different show. When you can just click next episode, you catch all the little connections between storylines. Has anyone else had a show totally click for them after a rewatch with a different approach?

Man, you nailed it. The weekly wait killed The Wire for me back then too. Binging lets you pick up on all those tiny details that just fly by otherwise, like how the same phrase shows up in totally different parts of Baltimore. The slow burn turns into a steady fire when you're not resetting your brain every seven days. Did you find any specific characters made way more sense the second time around?

Gotta say McNulty hit different for me the second time. First watch I just saw him as this chaotic good type, but binging it I noticed how much his ego screws everything up for everyone around him. Almost every bad thing that happens traces back to him doing something reckless.
