Hot take: I gave 'The Bear' three episodes and almost quit

Everyone said it was amazing, but the first few episodes felt so stressful... like watching someone have a panic attack for an hour. I pushed through to episode four, the 'Review' episode, and it completely clicked. The chaos had a point. Has anyone else had a show that took a few tries to really get into?

Totally get that with The Bear. The stress is a feature, not a bug, but it takes a minute to adjust. Pushing to episode four was the right call, that's where the show's rhythm makes sense. Some stories just need a little runway before they take off.

A show asking for four episodes of patience before it starts making sense is a pretty big ask. That's almost two hours of TV you have to just sit through before it clicks. If a show can't grab you in the first one, maybe it's not that well crafted to begin with. Maybe people are just forcing themselves to like it because everyone else does. There's a lot of good TV out there that doesn't ask you to push through a third of the season to get the point.

Is it really that deep though? It's just a tv show.
