Hot take: The Bear is way better if you watch it alone

I tried watching The Bear with my girlfriend and she kept asking questions during the kitchen scenes like 'why is he yelling?' So I rewatched the first season by myself last week and it hit way harder. The tension just builds better when nobody's talking over it. Anyone else have a show that totally changes depending on who's in the room?

My buddy tried watching Succession with his wife and she kept asking who everyone was related to during the boardroom scenes. He ended up pausing every five minutes to explain the family tree and totally lost the rhythm of the show. Finally he just started watching new episodes on his lunch break at work with earbuds in. Said it was like watching a completely different series once he wasn't constantly hitting pause.

Yo "why is he yelling" part got me lol. My roommate did the exact same thing during S2, kept asking plot questions at the worst moments and I missed half the dialogue. I ended up rewatching the whole thing at 2am with headphones on and it was a completely different experience. The sound design in that show is no joke, you really lose a lot of the stress when someone's talking through it. Some shows just work better as a solo thing, especially ones where the vibe is half the point.
