That $50 box set of season 1-3 I bought is collecting dust after episode 5

I impulse bought a complete series DVD set of some old show for fifty bucks, thinking I'd marathon it in a weekend. Barely made it through five episodes before I realized the writing was terrible and now it's just a coaster. Anyone else waste money on a show that looked good in the trailer but flopped fast?

Honestly 50 bucks for three seasons is a steal even if the show is mid. I bought a limited edition blu ray of some anime for 80 dollars and watched maybe 10 minutes. At least you got a cool looking shelf piece out of it.

That 80 dollar blu ray thing reminds me of my friend who bought a fancy espresso machine last year, used it exactly twice, and now it's just gathering dust on her counter. It's like we're all conditioned to think buying the thing is the same as actually doing the thing. I see it everywhere - people buying gym memberships they never use, signing up for cooking classes they skip, or hoarding books they never open. Owning the item makes us feel like we've already accomplished the goal, so we never actually get around to doing it.
