That 2005 forum post about dryer lint as fire starter still has me weirded out
I got a bookmark from 6 years ago for a thread where someone swore dryer lint plus a cardboard egg carton beats any store-bought fire starter. The post had 47 pages of people arguing about it, which surprised me more than the trick itself. Anyone else keep bookmarks for random survival hacks that you never actually plan to use?

Wonder if anyone actually tested that against a plain wad of newspaper, or if we're all just trusting some guy from 2005 who was probably bored at work. The real question is how many of those 47 pages were people admitting their lint fires just smoldered and died. I keep bookmarks for stuff like this too, but it's mostly so I can feel prepared while never actually going outside. The egg carton thing seems like it'd work better than just loose lint, but that's a lot of prep for something a lighter already solves. Do you save this stuff because you're genuinely going to camp, or is it more about having the knowledge in case the world ends on a random Tuesday?
