That $40 bread machine I bookmarked for a year finally paid off

I had a bookmark for a cheap bread machine on some deal site since 2022, and last month I finally caved and bought it. The first loaf came out like a hockey puck, denser than my uncle's fruitcake. Second try I cut the yeast in half and let it rise longer, and it actually turned into real bread. My neighbor traded me a jar of her jalapeno jelly for a loaf, so I guess the money wasn't wasted. Anyone else got a random bookmark that took ages to actually use?
