That archived forum post from 2006 about a guy's pet raccoon
I stumbled onto this 18-year-old bookmark of a dude who documented his pet raccoon learning to open every cabinet in his house. The part where it figured out the childproof lock in under 5 minutes had me laughing out loud. Anybody else got a random animal story saved somewhere?

Oh man, raccoons are basically furry little criminals with thumbs. What gets me is nobody talks about the reverse side of that - what happens when that raccoon gets bored and starts training the owner instead. That guy probably got tricked into leaving snacks out more than once without even realizing it. Those things are scary smart, like child-level problem solving but with zero guilt. Bet that raccoon had him wrapped around its paw by week two.

Oh come on, raccoons are basically just furry toddlers with better fashion sense. That guy probably had a blast teaching it tricks and watching it figure stuff out, not some weird power struggle. People act like every smart animal is trying to outsmart you when really they just want snacks and a warm spot to nap. Sure, maybe it opened a few cabinets, but that's just normal raccoon behavior, not some master plan to train the owner. Honestly, having a pet that keeps you on your toes sounds way more fun than a lazy cat that just sleeps all day.
