Warning: my old bookmarks folder from 2011 is basically a graveyard of dead links
Was cleaning out my browser last Tuesday night in my apartment in Columbus and opened a folder I made back in 2011 called "check later" and it had 214 bookmarks in it. I started clicking through them and honestly more than half just went to error pages or parked domains, stuff like old flash game sites and a forum for a band that broke up ages ago. Around bookmark number 60 I hit a link to a page that used to host cheat codes for a racing game, and the browser just spun forever until it timed out. I sat there for a second and then started screenshotting the funny dead ones, like a site that sold ringtones for 99 cents and a page titled "top 10 funny cat pictures of the week" that now redirects to a sketchy casino ad. It kind of hit me that I used to bookmark stuff like it was going in a filing cabinet I would actually open again, and now I just search for the same thing five times instead. I ended up keeping the folder but renaming it "museum" because deleting it felt wrong somehow. Anyone else got an old folder like this, and how many dead links are in yours?
