Why does nobody talk about bookmark hoarding as a real problem?

I have 1,400 bookmarks that I never open, and it took me 9 hours across 3 nights just to sort through 200 of them last week. Half the links are dead and the other half are things like a tutorial on tying a specific knot I saw once on a fishing forum in 2018. So is the fix to just mass delete everything, or does anyone else actually keep a separate 'junk' folder that somehow gets even worse?
