A goat ate my tongs in Boise
I was doing a demo at a small farm fair last month, and a curious goat wandered over from the petting zoo. It grabbed my favorite pair of cross-pein tongs right off the anvil stand and started chewing on the wooden handle. I had to trade the farmer three hand-forged hooks to get them back, and they're still covered in slobber. Has anyone else had an animal cause shop problems?

Used to believe my shop was a safe place... then a neighbor's dog got in and ate an entire roll of rawhide lace I use for wrapping handles. Cost me a whole afternoon's work. Another time, a barn cat decided the warm forge was the perfect spot to have kittens. Couldn't work for a week. Animals just find a way to make things their own.

Guess my shop's not so different from the bar. Had a raccoon break in last year and try to steal a whole bag of peanuts I keep for snacking. Thing made a huge mess but left the actual tools alone, so maybe I got off easy. At least goats and dogs are kind of cute about causing trouble.
