Best week I've had at the anvil in years

Last Tuesday I was working on a set of gate hinges for a customer in Boise and everything just clicked - the steel moved perfect, my hammer hits were spot on, and I finished all six pieces in one afternoon instead of the usual two days. My forge temp stayed steady the whole time without me messing with the air feed, which never happens. Has anyone else had a day where the metal just seemed to cooperate better than usual?

Been doing this work for almost thirty years and I've learned not to read too much into those good days. Usually when the stars align like that I worry it's setting me up for a string of failures where nothing goes right. Last time I had a day that smooth I spent the next week fighting with a piece of mild steel that just would not move no matter how hot I got it.

Gotta love when the universe sets you up for a week of frustration just to keep things interesting! Guess I should start enjoying my easy days with a side of dread.
