Broke my favorite rounding hammer on a 2-inch drift punch job last Tuesday

I was forging a set of gate hinges out in the shop when the hammer head flew clean off the handle mid-swing and dented a brand new anvil I just paid $400 for, has anyone dealt with a replacement handle that just won't stay tight after a couple days?

Funny how that pattern shows up everywhere, not just in tools. You fix one thing and the weak spot just moves somewhere else in the system. Been like that with my truck's suspension for years now.

Used to think a loose handle was just part of the deal with cheap hammers, but this one changed my mind. Had a similar thing happen with a cross peen I liked, replaced the handle twice and it still wobbled after a few swings. Ended up drilling a small pilot hole and putting a 1/4 inch lag bolt through the eye plus epoxy, that sucker has been solid for six months now. Might feel like overkill but beats chasing a handle around the shop every day.
