Burnt my hand bad trying to quench a chisel in water at 2am

Ngl I was working late on a set of cold chisels in my garage shop near Lexington and got careless. Grabbed the tang of this chisel I just heat treated and my glove slipped, burnt three fingers on my left hand pretty bad. Turns out I was rushing and the steel wasn't even hardened right anyway. Has anyone else had a similar dumb moment with quenching and ended up with a weird scar?

Classic case of the 2am blacksmith brain. At least now you've got a permanent reminder to check your glove grip before dunking.

Wait, is this really that big of a deal though? @olivia573 I get that it's a lesson learned, but a permanent reminder from a glove grip slip seems a little dramatic. I've had way worse happen on the job and just shrugged it off with a bandaid and kept going. Not saying safety ain't important, but sometimes people act like a minor mistake is a life-changing event when it's just a dumb thing that happened at 2am.
