Hit 1000 pounds of coal burned through last month, didn't even mean to track it

I keep a little notebook near my forge to jot down how much coal I go through each week, mostly out of curiosity. Last month I added it up and realized I've burned exactly 1000 pounds since I started keeping count back in February. That's a lot of heat for a guy who just makes hooks and bottle openers in his garage. Has anyone else ever calculated how much fuel they actually use in a year?

Guess I'm not the only one burning through retirement money one hook at a time.

Wow, that seems like a lot but I wonder if it's really that big of a deal. @betty_shah makes a joke about burning retirement money but honestly, how much does a bottle opener even cost in coal? You're just making small things for fun in your garage, not running a full-time factory. A thousand pounds over several months is probably normal when you look at how much heat it takes to keep a forge going. I bet a lot of folks here go through more than they think without counting it.
