Spent 12 hours straight grinding my anvil face to get it flat and it still has a low spot

Finally figured out after 8 hours that my cheap angle grinder was warping the steel from heat buildup, so I switched to hand filing with a sharp new mill file and got it way closer in just 4 hours has anyone else run into heat distortion messing with their grinding?

...and here I was thinking I was just bad at grinding, turns out I'm bad at grinding AND heat management. Honestly I spent a whole weekend chasing a low spot that kept getting deeper before I realized my grinder was basically annealing the steel as I worked. Ngl hand filing felt like a major downgrade at first but that low spot disappeared way faster than I expected.

My buddy Kyle spent three days trying to figure out why his blade kept warping. Turns out he was dunking it in water every 30 seconds to cool it down and that was cracking the edge every time. Hand filing saved that blade for sure.
