Took a trip to the old mining town museum in Cripple Creek and their forge display had a weird, short anvil I've never seen before.

My buddy who does blacksmithing said those short ones are called stake anvils, used for traveling!

Read somewhere that blacksmiths would just stick them in a tree stump when they got where they were going. Makes sense for moving around.
