Guy at my Tuesday game night spent 20 minutes explaining why my Catan strategy was wrong before we even rolled dice
So this happened at our local game store in Portland two weeks back, and I still think about it. We had a five player table going and I was setting up my first settlements on the coast because I wanted the harbor access. This guy Marcus, who I have played with maybe 3 times, leans over and goes "you know that is a waste of a starting spot right?" in front of everyone. Then he walks through my whole opening like he is teaching a class, counting pips on numbers and telling me which roads I should build first. The kicker is he had the worst board position by turn 6 and kept blaming the dice for his rolls. I ended up winning that game with 10 points while he sat on 4 and just kept muttering about variance. I get wanting to help new players but there is a big gap between advice and hijacking someone's turn. Has anyone else run into that one person at game night who cannot just let people play their own game?
