I spent two whole nights trying to sort my game collection by player count

I mean, it sounds simple, right? I wanted to make a quick list of games that work best with exactly four people. I started with my shelf of about 80 games. The problem was, half of them have a range like '2-5 players' and I had to check the rulebook or BGG for the 'best with' number. I kept getting sidetracked reading old forum posts about optimal counts. It took me maybe 8 hours total over two evenings just to make a basic spreadsheet. Has anyone else had a simple organizing task blow up like this? How do you actually track what games are best for your regular group size?

That "best with" range is such a trap. Did you end up making a hard rule for yourself on how to decide, like always going with the BGG poll number, or did you just go with your gut after all that reading?

Oh man, I feel this. I did the same thing last month and my spreadsheet has like three different tabs now because I couldn't decide. @kevin_sullivan has a point about the BGG poll, I just ended up going with my gut and probably overthought it all. My system is basically a mess of sticky notes now.
