PSA: That old wooden meeple set from the 90s can warp your whole game board if you store them together

I left my copy of Settlers of Catan in a damp basement for 3 months and the wooden pieces expanded so much they cracked the plastic tray, and now I have to sand down every single one before I can even play again has anyone else had humidity ruin their components?

Yeah, did you try tossing a few silica gel packs in the box before storing it? Tbh I've been there with old Catan pieces and a quick light sanding plus drying them out slowly worked fine.

Oh man, I've been down that exact road with a humidity-warped game board. Did you have to fully flatten the Catan pieces before sanding, or did you just hit them with the sandpaper while they were still slightly bowed? I've always been too scared to sand anything that was still curled because I figured it'd mess with the fit when the pieces dried out completely. I'm curious if you did any kind of press or weight on them first.
