Rant: A guy at my Tuesday game group said my rule explanations kill the fun, and now I can't stop thinking about it
Last week at our meetup in Portland I spent 10 minutes going through every edge case in a 45 minute game, and a regular named Dave finally said, dude, just teach us as we play, the rulebook lawyer thing is draining. Now I'm stuck between two camps: half my group wants every corner case spelled out up front so nobody feels cheated, and the other half wants to just start rolling dice and look stuff up when it comes up. Which side are you on, and has anyone changed how they teach games after getting called out like this?
