Switched from competitive games to co-op after one bad night

I used to only play competitive board games like Catan, but after a game night last month where two friends nearly stopped talking over a trade dispute, I grabbed a copy of Pandemic. Now I'm hooked on working together instead of arguing over sheep... anyone else make that kind of switch?

I used to be the exact opposite, always swore by competitive games because I thought co-op was too easy. But yeah, after one terrible game night that ended with someone flipping the board I grabbed Pandemic too and it completely changed my mind.

Picked up Pandemic after my group had a similar blowup over secret alliances in Risk. Honestly, co-op games saved our game nights because they force everyone to talk through problems together instead of hiding info. What worked for me was setting a rule that we could share any cards or strategies openly, no secret moves allowed. Ngl, it took a few rounds to stop feeling like I was holding back, but once we got the hang of it, the atmosphere shifted completely. Tbh, I've never looked back since then.
