TIL board games are older than writing
I was reading a museum blog about ancient Egypt and saw that a game called Senet was played over 5,000 years ago. That means people were rolling dice before they were writing letters. What's the oldest game you've actually played?

Makes you realize how basic the need to play really is. We still do the same thing now, just with fancier pieces. Oldest game I've played is probably checkers, feels ancient when you're losing.

Did you know they actually found a carved stone game board in an Irish bog? My friend got to see it on a trip and said it looked like someone just put it down 4,000 years ago and never came back. He tried playing a modern copy of the rules later and said it was shockingly fun for something that old. Makes you wonder what the people who left it there were like, right? What's the coolest old game artifact you've ever seen?
