Used to sleeve every single card but now I only do expansions
I was that person who sleeved everything from base game to promo cards after I got a drink spill on my King of Tokyo copy back in 2017. But last month I realized I had like 200 sleeves on cards I never touch and it felt wasteful. My buddy Jason pointed out that I only play with certain expansion decks anyway so why sleeve the whole box. Now I just sleeve the 40 cards that actually hit the table and my wallet is way happier. Has anyone else cut back on sleeves after a certain point?

Honestly, my buddy Dave went through the exact same thing with his Arkham Horror LCG collection. He had every single card sleeved up for years and then one day his cat knocked over a shelf and like half his sleeves got scratched up anyway. He still plays fine with unsleeved scenario cards he swaps in and out, but he only sleeves his investigator decks now. It's wild how fast those little plastic sleeves add up when you're not paying attention.

Have you ever tried penny sleeves for the scenario cards instead of the nicer ones? I learned that the hard way too, spent a fortune on premium sleeves and then realized the game cards barely get shuffled anyway. The scenario cards just sit there most of the time, so I switched to cheap penny sleeves for those and only use the good stuff for my player decks. It cut my sleeve budget in half. For the player decks I actually use those clear matte ones that shuffle nice but are way cheaper than the big name brands. Honestly unless you're playing hundreds of games with the same deck the expensive sleeves are just not worth it.
