A guy at the yard in Tulsa told me to always mark my flanges with a paint pen before I pull them, and man, that saved me a ton of time last week.

Mark them BEFORE you pull them? I always thought you marked them after to match them back up. That's a game changer for lining everything up again.

Dude this is honestly how HALF the stuff in life works. You don't realize it but so many things are WAY easier if you just prepare before you start. Like I used to just jump into assembling furniture and then wonder why I had extra screws. Now I lay everything out and sort it first, takes ten extra minutes but saves me an hour of frustration. Same with cooking too - getting all your ingredients chopped and measured before you start cooking makes everything go so much smoother. Marking wires before pulling them is just the car version of that same lesson I keep having to learn over and over.

Wait, you were marking them AFTER pulling the wires? That sounds like a total nightmare. How did you even keep track of which one went where? Marking before is the only way to not lose your mind. You just put a little tape or a number on each one before you disconnect anything. Then it's obvious where they all go back.
