Appreciation post: I thought the new digital pressure gauges were just a gimmick until my old analog one failed on a big job
For years I stuck with my trusty analog gauge, thinking the digital ones were just expensive toys that would break. Then, during a shutdown at the plant in Gary, my old gauge started reading 20 psi low right as we were testing a new boiler section. A guy on the crew lent me his digital gauge, and the difference was crazy clear. It gave a steady readout down to the tenth of a psi, which let us dial in the hydro test perfectly. That one failure cost us half a day of troubleshooting we didn't have. Now I keep a digital backup in my kit at all times. Anyone else make the switch after a close call like that?

My buddy had a similar scare with an old regulator on a nitrogen line. The digital one he swapped in showed a tiny leak the needle gauge totally missed. He won't go back to analog now.

Man, that's wild how much difference the right tool makes. It reminds me of when my uncle kept swearing his old tire pressure gauge was fine, but it was off by like five whole psi. He only found out after getting a slow leak checked at the shop. Makes you wonder what else we're missing with the old gear just because it's what we're used to.
