Boiler tube leak at the paper mill taught me to trust the hammer test

I was checking tubes at a mill outside Green Bay and one sounded too solid, so I skipped it. Two weeks later it blew during startup and cost the crew a full shift plus a $3,000 repair. Anybody else had the hammer lie to them or do you tap twice on purpose?
