Bright chrome tig cup vs black one, picked wrong on a mirror finish job

Had a shiny stainless handrail job in Denver last month, grabbed the clear cup instead of the black one and the arc flash ruined my first two welds. Swapped to the black cup after lunch and it was night and day, no more glare. Anyone else keep both cups in the cart or do you just stick with one?

Clear cup glare sounds more like a helmet or angle problem, not a magic color swap. You sure you didn't just get better after lunch?
