I thought that new ceramic fiber blanket was just overpriced hype until I saw it handle a 1600F repair in a Kansas City boiler without any shrinkage.
Has anyone else switched to it for high-temp patches, or are you sticking with the old-school stuff?

That test in the Kansas City boiler is impressive, but I have to wonder about consistency. My crew tried it on a similar high-temp patch last year and it didn't hold up nearly as well after a few cycles. The old-school stuff is slower to work with, but at least we know what we are getting every time. Maybe the new blanket works great for a one-time repair, but for repeated heating and cooling I am still not sold.
