Looked up old union records and was floored by starting pay in 1974

Was digging through some archived local hall paperwork at our Detroit meeting last Tuesday, just curious about the old days. Turns out a first year apprentice in '74 made $3.10 an hour, which sounds nothing until you factor in that houses went for like $25,000. Anyone else ever check what the rate sheet looked like back when you started?
