Saw a guy in Tulsa pressure test a 40 year old boiler with soap bubbles and I owe him an apology
I always figured the soap bubble test was old timer folklore and a waste of time compared to a real hydro. Then a retired hand named Dale ran it on a 1985 Cleaver Brooks unit at a paper mill outside Tulsa and found a pinhole leak on a rear tube sheet that a gauge never would have shown. Six years of me skipping that step, and now I keep a spray bottle in my bag. Anybody else get humbled by a trick they wrote off years ago?
