Ray had 31 years in the trade and told me preheating thin wall pipe was a waste of time, so I skipped it on a boiler tube job in Gary last spring. The weld passed visual and I felt great about it until the X-ray came back with two cracks. Cost us a full day of grinding and rework and the foreman pulled me off the job for a week. Anyone else get burned listening to the oldest guy on the crew?
