Was using a 3/8 drive impact on 1 1/4 inch bolts for years. A foreman in Gary asked me why my wrists were always taped up.

Look at it this way, maybe that 3/8 gun was teaching you finesse. You learn to let the tool do the work in short bursts instead of just leaning on it, which can save your bacon on a rusty bolt that might snap. A bigger gun just encourages you to hammer everything, and sometimes that extra power creates bigger problems than sore wrists.

That "save your bacon" point is real, I've snapped bolts by getting impatient with too much gun.
