Changed my mind about using PVA glue for everything
I always used standard Elmer's PVA for my spines and it worked fine, but my books felt stiff. A binder in Portland told me to try a 60/40 mix of PVA and methyl cellulose for the spine, and the difference is huge. The flex is way better and the pages lie flatter. Has anyone else tried mixing their own glue like this?

Actually, that binder gave you a great flexible mix.

Yeah, "great flexible mix" is what I call the pile of stuff I never use.
