DAE ever have a spine come apart right when you press it? Happened to me on a Bible repair last week
I was working on a rebound family Bible in my basement workspace on Saturday, and when I went to press the spine the PVA joint popped loose on the second signature. I had rushed the glue up because I was watching the clock, so I took it apart, cleaned the old glue off with a warm towel, and reglued it in two thinner passes with an hour of drying time between them. The second press held fine and the book opens flat now. Has anyone else had a joint fail mid press, and do you let the glue tack up first or go right to the press?
