French link stitching blew my mind compared to regular link for leather journals

I spent 3 years doing standard link stitches on my leather journals and never thought twice. Then I tried French link stitching on a custom order for a client in Portland and the difference was massive. The threads lay so much flatter and the spine opens way easier, almost no cracking. Has anyone else switched to a different stitch style and felt like it changed their whole workflow?

Tried French link on a journal last month and yeah it totally changed how I work. The threads sit so flat you barely see them from the side. Regular link always left that bumpy ridge that drove me crazy. Now I want to redo all my old stuff with French link.

12 journals in my stack are now sitting there judging me because I switched to French link mid-project. The ridge on regular link really does look like a speed bump for thread. Guess I'm joining the "redo everything" club with you.
