Old letterpress guy told me my grain direction was backwards and I didn't believe him at first
He showed me how my covers were curling after 2 weeks on the shelf and after I flipped the grain on the boards everything lays flat now. Has anyone else had an old timer call them out on something basic like that?

Hear me out, I think the old timer might be right here. Grain direction in bookbinding is one of those things that seems minor but it literally controls how paper and board move with moisture. Once you see it warp in real time you never forget it.

But is it actually that big of a deal if you're just doing a few books at home? Feels like people online make it sound like the end of the world if the grain is off by a millimeter.
