Switched to paper grain direction after a customer pointed it out

I used to never think about grain direction, just cut whatever way the paper felt right. Last month a customer in Austin brought back a journal where the covers were curling bad, and she showed me how the grain was running sideways. I looked it up and felt dumb, now I check every sheet before cutting. Has anyone else had a project fail because of grain direction, or is it just me?
