TIL the guy who sharpens mower blades at the shop on Route 9 talked me out of buying a new one
I dropped off a bent blade last Tuesday at the small engine place in Stockbridge, fully ready to just buy a replacement for 40 bucks. The owner, Dale, spun it on his balancer, showed me the bend was only about a sixteenth off, and said he'd true it up for 8 dollars instead. Twenty minutes later he handed it back and told me the steel on the old ones holds an edge better than the stamped junk they sell now. I ran it all season and the cut is cleaner than it has been in three years. Anyone else got a guy like this who saves you money by talking you out of stuff?
