Am I the only one who prefers those hideous 1998 Geocities pages over modern minimalism?

Everyone raves about clean layouts, but I found a fan site from 1998 with blinking text, a tiled checkerboard background, and a midi file that still loads in 2 seconds, and honestly it tells you more about the creator than any slick Squarespace page ever could, so why are we all pretending ugly sites are useless when they're the only ones with actual personality left, has anyone else found a page that's so bad it's genuinely good?
