Found a site that lists every single public restroom in Japan by location

I spent like 45 minutes last night scrolling through toiletmap.or.jp just because I got curious after a work trip to Osaka where I couldn't find a bathroom anywhere. It's got photos, ratings, and even notes on cleanliness. Has anyone else stumbled on weirdly specific map sites like this?

You said "when you really gotta go or really gotta drink, you appreciate the effort" and I get that, I really do. But I see it differently. Sites like this kind of creep me out to be honest. Someone had to go into every single rest stop and fountain spot, take photos, rate it, write notes. That's a lot of personal data about where people are and what they're doing. And it's not like the site owners are doing it for free either, these maps usually have ads or sell your info or something. I guess I just don't trust that someone mapping out every toilet in the country is doing it out of the goodness of their heart. Feels like we're handing over our whole lives for a little convenience.

Used a similar thing once but for water fountains in Paris. I was on a long walk there and got so thirsty. Couldn't find a single fountain that actually worked. This map showed which ones were broken and which ones had good pressure. I mean, its kind of crazy that someone went around and tested all those fountains. But I guess when you really gotta go or really gotta drink, you appreciate the effort.
